Real Madrid legend Emilio Butragueno and a delegation from the Real Madrid Foundation took part in the charity event
On October 11th, 2023, in the city of Sofia, over 80 children from the Sports and Social School in Vidin, managed by the "Real Madrid" Foundation in cooperation with the "Friends of Sports" Foundation, received invaluable support for the cause of their future development. At a charity auction in Sofia, in the presence of Real Madrid legend Emilio Butragueno, funds were collected for the sustainability of the project in Vidin and for considering the possibility of opening a second sports and social school in Bulgaria.
"It is my pleasure to return to Sofia on such a special occasion. The last time I had the opportunity to visit Bulgaria was in 2016 for the opening of the Sports and Social School in Vidin", said Emilio Butragueno in an emotional speech to the participants of the charity event. " Together we can contribute to our educational project through football, aimed at the most vulnerable children, youth, and girls in Vidin, to continue in the future," added the Real Madrid legend.
"Your commitment to the cause of the Real Madrid Sports and Social School in Vidin city is an example of the power of community and the profound effect that a collective action can have on children who undeservedly have a more difficult start in life," said Nikolina Angelkova during the event. She was a Minister of Tourism 2014-2020 and honorary chairwoman of the "Friends of Sports" Foundation, which in partnership with the "Real Madrid" Foundation has been taking care of the social integration of over 80 disadvantaged children in Vidin for 7 years.
"The cause of our company is to support Bulgarian children and especially children in disadvantaged situations, deprived of parental care. Our focus is on the health, development, and education of children, to have a better future. "- said Kiril Boshov, Chairman of the Board of Eurohold.
