More than 600 people from 16 nationalities took part in the marathon distributed by age groups
On May 21st, 2023, in the city of Pleven, with the support of Euroins Bulgaria , the ninth edition of the "Friendship Marathon" charity competition was held. The event gathered more than 600 participants in an extremely wide age range - children from the age of 3 to an 86-year-old marathon runner. The participants were representatives of a total of sixteen countries, including Australia, Belarus, Great Britain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Greece, Italy, India, New Zealand, Ukraine, Romania, USA, Sri Lanka, France, South Africa, and Bulgaria. The Pleven marathon was opened with greetings from the organizers, diplomats, and official guests.
The Fun Run Kids race and the three-kilometer mass cross-country "I can" beat last year's record for participants, with more than 450 children and adults, divided into age categories. All participants competed in support of a charitable cause to provide a scholarship for a student from the University of Medicine, Pleven, with distinction who has lost one parent. The initiative is part of the Bcause Foundation's Ready for Success campaign.
The ninth edition of the "Friendship Marathon" in the city of Pleven managed to attract many volunteers. Among those who expressed their desire to contribute with their free labor were the residents of the city of Pleven, students, entire families, people from the country and neighboring Romania, and others.
The charity marathon in the city of Pleven is organized by leading foundations and social enterprises in Bulgaria, whose main mission is to support people in a disadvantaged position and various needs: "Ice-Open", "Maria's World" Foundation, "Social Future - Jamba" Foundation ”, National Alliance for Social Responsibility, in partnership with Pleven Municipality, SK Elite Running from Romania, Bulgarian Association for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, BCause Foundation, Autism Today and with the support of many companies for which corporate and social responsibility, the contribution to building of a fair social environment and a sustainable future, are at the core of their business.
